Question 1

Does 5.1.x branch includes automatically all patches already included in 50x branch ? In other words, if I use 5.1.x, will it be always the most up2date?

Question 2

What is the best place to download 5.0.3-Bx?

  1. 1 - when bugfix release is released, then it is manually merged to current
feature branch (e.g. when 5.0.3-B1 will be released, then I will merge it to
    5.1.x branch)

2 - best way is always checkout. command is:

    svn --username=guest co svn:// l.503B1

  2. thanks !

  3. Hi Phil,

I have an idea - why don't you put list of questions about what's not clear
to you (or not well address) on these pages:

The reason why I am asking is that they have all critical information and
important for us to know if users misinterpret something.

  4. Nice page, but I've added a large anchor to page bottom where svn commands
are. This way they will be more visible.

  5. Hi Dmitry

Everything on theses pages are clear, and there different kind of
    people into Inportal community:

1 - developpers (web agency, freelance coders...)
2 - designers (who can be able to transform they own design into powerfull CMS)
3 - website owners (who generally knows a bit of HTML and sometime,
very rarely, a bit of CSS)

    On the page research-development.html

All info are presented in a logical process, but they mix general
content information (Releases Life-Cycle, discussion and
communication), along with very specific info (versionning, patching)
that will be understoud only by the first type of users as I listed.
In other word, the content of the page is very interesting for
developpers, somewhat interesting for designers, and not very
interesting for website owners. But as per my experience, people who
are able to give a real feedback on usability and bugs are these end
users, that's why I discussed about another way to let them easily
download beta release (please look around, all other open source
software are proposing beta and RC as direct, complete download).

The page about code repository is clearly for first category of users,
and thus I have nothing to say, it's perfect.

I give you all this opinion as I'm a 3rd category user who jumped to
1st one, and I'm actually doing a partnership with a designer, in a
goal of selling websites, that's why I permit myself to talk for each
    of them.

Why not posting a poll, on these pages? I'm exactly as old as Jesus,
but I could mistake sometime :-)

    Waiting to read your opinions.

  6. We have for quick downloads. Click on
"More Files ..." to access all previous versions. Sadly, but we don't have
profiles there for download. And here is the page for theme downloads

  7. I know the download pages, but it's more interesting to download new
versions rather than previous ones ;-)

I just take example of all other open sources soft I know and use,
    from postgresql to python...

    2010/3/23 Alexander Obuhovich <>:

  8. So you mean to download 5.0.x and 5.1.x development branch snapshots. Of
course understand, that we can't create new snapshot by hand after
performing each commit. That's why we have ideas about creating automated
snap shot system, where all branches of development will be automatically be
available as downloadable archives. The only different will be, that version
will contain snapshot date, like "".

  9. that it, being able to DL the most updated version could be bad, don't
    you think so?

    2010/3/23 Alexander Obuhovich <>:

  10. I'm not saying it's bad, but we have more pressing matters to attend to
    right now and limited resources.

  11. yes, no problem, I'm just proposing all my ideas and thought when they come.

    2010/3/23 Alexander Obuhovich <>:

  12. Hi Phil,

Your ideas are good and options was heard.

We'll be addressing this in the order it was received.

While we are well prepared for 1st category (programmers). There is a way
for you to help us more to get 2nd and3rd types of users to the site is when
we have MORE and BETTER front-end theme. We do won't on them too, but again
if we stitch fully to theme - you'll no bug features soon. By the way, you
can do plain HTML and we'll do integration if you will.

  13. Hi Dmitry,

I'm happy to read you agree with this detailed analysis of our audience.

About themes, I thought it would be usefull from me only if they are ready
to install, otherwise templatemonster have ten thousand themes allready in
HTML... and I think personnally there's 1% of very good ones, which is
    anyway a lot of possibilities

Anyway I'd like to bring you my own themes, I'm just trying to finish my
    actual contracts first :)

    2010/3/23 Dmitry Andrejev <>

  14. Sounds good, please post in Designs and interfaces about new themes when you
    have them.
